Start Your Career in Marketing
The Marketing Industry
Marketing is one of the most volatile, challenging, and exciting industries one can join. After all, there's only so much that the public can digest. There are only so many commercials, jingles, billboards, and ads that the average consumer can receive and remember. Thus, as a marketer, you have a monumental task. How do you brand your product, service, or event effectively? How do you establish a presence in an oversaturated, advertisement-driven, global economy?
Advertising School Is a Great Start
Advertising school is probably the most direct and practical path into marketing. But it is by no means the only path. Many successful marketers have a degree in business, information technology, or some tangentially related field. This is not at all surprising given how the Internet has totally revolutionized how consumers receive information.
A degree in an Internet-related field would prove extremely advantageous in a world that is dead set on embracing more and more online technology. Search engine optimization, for example, is a branch of marketing that was almost nonexistent just 10 years ago. Who knows in what direction marketing will continue in the future? One thing is quite certain, however; the Internet will play a vital role in the years to come.
